The Farm

In the heart of Kiambu County, west of Ruiru, lies the historic Tatu Estate. Spanning 907 hectares of deep red volcanic soil, this estate is the crown jewel of the Kenya Natural Project by Dormans. While Kenya is famous for washed coffees, Tatu is rewriting the rules by producing high-end Natural Processed lots that rival the world's best.

Geo-Specific Terroir:
Sitting at an altitude of 1,550–1,700 MASL,
the estate benefits from a unique micro-climate that allows for slow
cherry maturation. This specific terroir enhances the legendary SL-28 and SL-34 varieties, concentrating sugars to create a cup of unmatched density.

The Process:
To
achieve this 'Fruit Bomb' profile, pickers select only the deepest
purple cherries. These are rigorously hand-sorted and sun-dried on
African raised beds until they reach 11% moisture. The result is a
clean, winey, and intensely fruity coffee that showcases the true
potential of Kenyan terroir.
